Elevator lobbies are already media environments. People arrive, pause and orient themselves. Buildings often respond with a poster or digital panel. Reality Relay is introducing a different application direction: a bounded physical space in which a product, remote person or intelligent representative can appear to occupy real volume.
From a displayed message to an encounter.
A conventional elevator advertisement asks the viewer to interpret a picture of a product. Elevator presence is designed to make the subject itself feel situated in the room.
A shoe can appear as a dimensional object with a clear silhouette and controlled motion. A fragrance can become a composed still life of bottle, material and botanical references. A remote product specialist can arrive inside the frame to explain a wearable, answer a question or transition into an assisted session.
The design question is no longer “What should the screen say?” It is “What should arrive in the space?”
A compact Relay Frame application.
The concept uses a compact portrait or object-scale Relay Frame placed beside or between elevator doors where building design and required clearances allow. The thin perimeter defines a visibly recessed chamber rather than a bright front surface.
Every scene is authored around one person or dimensional object occupying that chamber. Correct scale, perspective, containment and grounding are essential. Complete landscapes, conventional commercials, websites and room renderings are deliberately excluded because they make the product behave like an ordinary television.

Three operating modes.
- 01
Dimensional product demonstration
One physical product is composed inside the space with controlled light, scale and restrained movement. The object—not interface chrome or campaign copy—remains the event.
- 02
Remote human expertise
A product specialist, concierge or designer occupies the bounded space and can move from an authored introduction into a scheduled or requested live session.
- 03
AI-guided presence
An intelligent representative can demonstrate approved products, answer bounded questions and route the viewer to a human team with clear disclosure and operator control.
One platform across many locations.
Reality Relay Platform is the software, intelligence and network layer behind the experience. It coordinates approved Presence Scenes, endpoint calibration, scheduling, session state, remote participants and operating telemetry across compatible Relay products.
The same campaign system can emphasize fragrance in a hotel, wearable technology in an office campus and footwear in a shopping center while adapting each scene to the calibrated endpoint and architecture of the location.
Designed to belong to the building.
The installation must remain operationally and architecturally quiet. Final placement should preserve elevator controls, indicators, emergency information, accessibility and circulation. Ambient light, reflections and viewing distance must be measured in the actual lobby.
The system is designed around concealed installation, controlled updates, health monitoring and a safe fallback state. Optional measurement should focus on endpoint health and explicit interactions without turning a shared lobby into a surveillance environment.
A more valuable pause.
The goal is not to make elevator lobbies louder. It is to make a small number of moments more physically convincing and useful.
A product can arrive as an object. An expert can arrive as a person. An intelligent service can arrive as a presence connected to the building and the brand behind it. That is the shift from elevator advertising to elevator presence.
